Well, apparently
either no one here had any interest in this post or just didn't have a solution
to the post. My impatience caused me to continue messing with the file and I
finally found the solution.
It seems that I had the "file protected". In order to remove this protection, I performed the following steps:
1. "Save As" > "Excel Workbook"
2. Click on "Tools" and select "General Options"
3. Clear all passwords as shown below
4. Click on OK.
